The A-Z of Public Speaking

Communication, the speaking kind, has a tonne of variables.
What should I do with my hands when giving a speech?
How much eye contact should I give to my audience during a presentation?
Is my voice confident enough when I am speaking in meetings?
How do I keep the attention of my audience if my content is boring?
It can be difficult to know which ones you should experiment with and which should be left well alone.
This uncertainty gets amplified when it comes to 1:many communication. That's when it is just you doing the talking and a group (large or small) is staring back at you.
What do I do if I forget my script during my presentation?
How do I handle all the tough questions that my colleagues are going to ask in this meeting?
What if they all think that I'm not knowledgable enough on my presentation topic?
I've been running training programmes in public speaking, executive presence and communicating with impact for ten years. And despite the wonderful progress people can make in the training room it is still hard to translate that into real change in the real world.
I know that it is a) scary and b) hard work to start making changes to your communication style. So I am taking on the challenge of making that next phase - the test driving of new communication skills - easier to integrate into your real life, and subtle so that you don't feel like you're having a personality transplant.
To help you improve your public speaking and executive presence one step at a time I am creating this free A-Z YouTube course.
2 minute videos each week that invite you to make one small change. Do one small experiment to find out if that variable (be it voice, breath, attention, gestures, I could go on) could help you on your way to confident, engaging communication, no matter what the occasion.
You'll never know until you try.
Here is this week's video. B for Body.
